The final product. I just finished this up. I actually lost track of time on how long this took me to color. It’s all digital. Done in SAI.
*wipes brow* whewwwww
I used the gray pastel dust sponge effect on these two particular panels. It’s good to at least have some kind of texture even if word balloons are what you’re supposed to be looking at. I’m always trying to up my game, so I figured I’d try this out here.
These are pre scan pics, hence the non photo blue pencil poking out here and there.
lil DIY trick sorta: with the suggestion of the pastel set, I whittled off a good amount of the black and white sticks to make a little dust pile. And to make a gray shade without having to smudge my finger all around. I hate messy.
I didn’t have a proper brush or sponge thing that the instructions also mentioned so I made one of my own. I took a cosmetic wedge, a bamboo skewer, pinched the ends to secure it with some artists tape and there you go. Makeshift sponge tool.
It was a little tough mixing the two dusts to create the proper gray I wanted so I figured I’d have to crush the mixture some. Not pictured is me taking a flat object and pressing it down. I used the end of the bamboo skewer to further pulverize any bigger dust pieces to get a better result.
It works pretty well! You gotta get used to it like with anything but if you’re like me and a stickler about covering sharp angles/90 degree angled panels and stuff, the rectangle shape of the cosmetic sponge is helpful. Still a bit messy but that’s pastels for you.
just finished this up. dunno if I wanna leave it as is or go the whole nine w ink then coloring in SAI. lemme sleep on it.
custom sketch cards for a buddy o’ mine, psionichounds, who coined the term “poketalians” as per the initial one i did of Bidoof cussin’ in Italian.
any reason to draw a cartoon smoking with shades doing swears, i will take full advantage of. and in a foreign language, a plus.
I did yet another book cover for my sister. Her latest effort, “Fanny Price: Slayer Of Vampires” is now available in a spiffy e-book form. Loads of info here.
i kept fussing with this, and even now im still thinking i need to. eh, maybe again later, eventually. for now…
And what I just finished up now. Tara’s psychic rage looks like a birthday cake attack.
